The Monster Singing Game

Hidden in this wonderful book by Loretta Mitchell, is The Monster Singing Game, a gem everyone needs to know about.

During October, my little ones enjoy making Monsters by singing for their body parts. It’s all part of Monster Singing Game found in “One, Two, Three… Echo Me” by Loretta Mitchell.

Preparation:

In this book, there are monster body pieces to copy, color and laminate. It requires a little work to get the pieces but it is so worth it! I keep all of the pieces in a Monster Box and bring it out with great fanfare…. it’s all in presentation!!

Singing Sol – mi

The object of the Monster singing game is to complete as many monsters as you can by singing for the body pieces. There are several different ways to play the game and I’m not sure I’ve ever done it the same way twice. The instructions say that the teacher should  sing a question and the student should  sing her answer to earn the monster piece. This particular year, once my students started singing, they ended up singing for every minute of the class time. Somehow they really got into the game and wanted to sing and describe every monster piece. What great practice singing alone and with others.

Here is a video the children made to share their monsters with their parents.

It’s a great idea to tuck away and remember for next year.
