Popcorn: A Review Activity for the Music Classroom

Popcorn: A Review Activity for the Music Classroom

Popcorn pieces are linked to pages (Koosh Ball). Use this Popcorn Review SMARTBoard activity to introduce the beginning of the year procedures, location of instruments, classroom items, etc. I have the students finding the tissue box, the restroom door, the light switch, the list of Music Rules, the SMARTBoard, the Rhythm Wall, The solfa ladder, the Orff instruments, various rhythm instruments, and even the trash can.   It’s a great time to have  students demonstrate how to enter properly (or improperly), how to make a circle, make rows, line up for leaving. Here’s the fun part…. When students land on “Popcorn” everyone has 10 seconds to hop to a new chair or spot on the floor. There is  a 10 sec. snippet of popcorn music and they have to be in their new spot by the end. It really is fun! It works like the Koosh Ball activities. Of course, you can easily edit page content to suit your classroom needs.

You can download this activity here.

Use it at the beginning of the Year.

  1. This is such a great idea!! Unfortunately, my school does not have a Smartboard. Do you have this activity available in Powerpoint? If so, could you please post this.
    Thanks.
