Disrupt the System

What a challenge to disrupt the system!

This iste-presentation from Will Richardson is very challenging to me and I just have to share it.

iste-presentation from Will Richardson on Vimeo.

Every time I hear these thoughts on education, I understand a bit more how my role in the classroom should change from delivering curriculum to allowing the children to discover it for themselves. I want to be a catalyst for disrupting the system of learning in my world. Admittedly, change is hard, it makes me feel unsteady and a bit out of control. However, I desperately want to be the kind of teacher who enables my students to discover far more than I’ve ever imagined presenting to them. I don’t want my students’ world to be limited by my insecurities; rather, my classroom should be a launching pad for discovery. After listening to this iste-presentation multiple times, the door is opening in my mind and I can’t wait to explore with my students.

I’m so appreciative of my learning network that has grown so much through this blog and through Twitter. Thank you for challenging me to keep learning!

I WILL disrupt the system. I WILL be an agent of change.

I teach elementary music, am passionate about integrating technology into my teaching, am obsessed with my SMARTBoard and iPad, and enjoy creating lessons and sharing ideas. I love technology almost as much as I love cheesecake, and with more energy and ideas than I know what to do with, I can't wait for the sun to come up each morning! I'm wife to Prince Charming and mom to three incredible girls who keep me balanced. . . sort of!
